VISIT ON SUNDAY
It would be our pleasure to welcome you to our Sunday gathering. The following information has been compiled to best serve and inform you before your visit. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
Scotia Banque Theatre
977 Sainte-Catherine Ouest
Montréal (Québec) H3B 4W3
Peel (Green Line)
Street Parking is free until 1:00 PM. To find a good spot and give yourself time to make it to the theatre, it is recommended to arrive and find parking around 9:45 AM.
Church 21 meets on the fifth floor in theatre 12. Upon arrival, you will still need to travel “up” 3-5 minutes. There are greeters on the ground floor to help give you directions.
Whether you arrive by metro, car, bike, or foot, once inside the Scotia Banque Theatre, you will take the elevator to the third floor. On the third floor, you will follow the C21 signs toward the escalators (or elevator if needed) which will take you to the fifth floor. You will encounter people who will greet you, give you a card which you can fill out, and answer any questions you might have.
We have a secure area where parents can drop their children off with trained volunteers who have underground background checks for a time of age-based learning and activity about Jesus. There is a nursery for children ages 0-2. Different classes are offered for children ages 3 through third grade.
There is also an area in the nursery for mothers who would prefer to breastfeed in private than in the theatre.
The children’s program runs from 10h until you see a notice on the screen in the theatre stating, “Parents bring your children into the theatre.” We want the children to be able to join everyone during the second portion of the gathering.
What to Expect Inside the Theatre:
Each week is different, but here is what a typical Sunday morning gathering looks like.
Welcome & Song
Our service begins at 10h with a welcome and a song. The song aims to engage our mind and heart with things that we will be hearing about that day. You might not feel comfortable singing nor believe what is being sung. That is fine. You are invited to be with us!
Announcements & Prayer
Next, someone will give announcements, read a passage from the Bible, and pray. We want to be informed of things happening as a church as well as hear from God and communicate with him. We believe that God speaks through the Bible and that we can speak to him through prayer.
Then one of the pastors will speak from the text that was read. Our sermons are focused on faithfully engaging the ancient text in the way it was intended to be read, and then apply it to the modern day realities of the 21st century. The aim of every sermon is to show how Jesus is the hero of every passage and how he helps his people live.
After hearing the sermon, the church responds. We do this in several ways, which will clearly be explained at that time. During the moments of response, parents are invited to bring their children into the collective with the rest of the church.
The morning finishes with a sending, where the church is encouraged to go and live the realities we heard about by the power that God gives. Then the church leaves theatre 12.
After the Sunday gathering:
We encourage people not to leave right away, but rather to stick around and meet people.
On the metro level of the building, there is a food court. We have something after the collective called, “Lunch Downstairs” where people are able to connect over a meal.
Please don’t leave without having your questions about Church 21 answered.
What to Wear:
Clothes. Nothing special, unless you want to wear something special.
One thing to note is that the temperature is variable and tends to be on the cooler side of things. So, if you tend to get cold at the movies, we would encourage you to bring something warm to wear.
